The only problem with insurance is that is only needed if something bad happens. However, that is not to say it is not a positive step to take in itself, for it is there to make bad situations easier to handle as a form of risk management.
The necessity of insurance is to such an extent that for those wishing to drive a car or other automobiles, it is a legal requirement on British roads. This is because the bad things that can happen on the highway can be disastrous. Whilst cars are useful for getting us from A to B, they can also be lethal machines, meaning that at the very least owners must make sure they are covered in the case of an accident (and drive safely).
So whilst car owners will take out car insurance, other road users will find policies that are more suited to them, such as bike insurance or van insurance and although these measures don’t in themselves make the roads safer to driver on, they can make a road traffic accident easier to handle, at least in terms of administration.
So insurance is a large part of the world, and this is likely to remain the case for years to come.
